MYRON L BELFER
Myron L. Belfer, MD, MPA, is a Professor of Psychiatry at the Children’s Hospital Boston, Harvard Medical School. He led the WHO's child mental health program from 2000 to 2005, developing the Child Mental Health Atlas. He is also a former President of the International Association for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Allied Professions (IACAPAP). Dr. Belfer founded the Boston Children’s Hospital Global Child Mental Health Observership Program and conducted a comprehensive child mental health needs assessment in schools in Shanghai with Chinese colleagues. His current focus is on building global mental health capacity, including the development of a comprehensive child mental health program in Shenzhen, China. As a clinician, he closely collaborated with plastic and reconstructive surgeons to understand the development of body image in children.
