MARCOS SIGNORETTI CROCI
Dr. Marcos S. Croci is a co-founder and co-director of the Adolescent Borderline Personality Disorder Outpatient Program (ADRE) at the Institute of Psychiatry, University of São Paulo Medical School. He has academic interest in the pathophysiology and the psychology of BPD and other personality disorders, approaching his studies through diverse theoretical perspectives and methodologies. His current focus is to study the risk factors and precursors of non-suicidal self-harm in the Brazilian High-Risk Cohort to inform the development of prevention and early treatment interventions for complex mental health problems in adolescence and young adulthood.
In addition to his research, Dr. Croci is committed to improving treatment for personality disorders. Along with his team at ADRE, he aims to enhance BPD care and promote evidence-based training in Brazil. They have successfully introduced the Good Psychiatric Management (GPM) approach to the outpatient unit and trained many mental health professionals in the country in GPM. As a GPM official trainer, Dr. Croci has also been involved in the development of GPM-A (Good Psychiatric Management for Adolescents), particularly in the management of self-harm. He has received training in empirically validated treatments for BPD, including Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Mentalization-Based Treatment and Transference-Focused Psychotherapy.
