BENEDETTO VITIELLO
Psychiatrist and pediatrician with expertise in psychopharmacology and treatment research. A graduate of the University of Pavia Medical School, Pavia, Italy, he trained in pediatrics in Italy and in psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry in the U.S.A. From 1989 until 2016, he worked at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland, U.S.A., where he was Chief of the Child and Adolescent Treatment and Preventive Interventions Research Branch of the National Institute of Mental Health. From 2007, he is adjunct Professor in the Mental Health Department of the Johns Hopkins in the University School of Public Health, in Baltimore, U.S.A. Since 2016, he is Professor of Child and Adolescent Neuropsychiatry at the University of Turin, Italy. His research has focused on developing and testing effective treatment and preventive interventions for children, adolescents, and adults with mood and anxiety disorders, psychosis, attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder, autism, and other neurodevelopmental disorders.
