Dr. Polanczyk received his degree in medicine from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (2002), did his residency in psychiatry (2005) and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (2007) at the Clínicas Hospital in Porto Alegre, received his Master (2005) and PhD degrees in psychiatry from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul. He did his Postdoctoral studies at the Institute of Psychiatry, King‘s College London (2008) and at Duke University, USA(2008-9). Dr. Polanczyk is professor of child and adolescent psychiatry at the Department of Psychiatry, University of São Paulo Medical School and Advisor at the Graduate Program in Psychiatry at the University of São Paulo. He is executive director of the National Institute of Science and Technology for Developmental Psychiatry for Children and Adolescents (INPD), Coordinator of the Research Center in Neurodevelopment and Mental Health, University of São Paulo and of the Diagnostic and Early Intervention Program at the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Service of the Institute of Psychiatry at the HC-FMUSP. He is associate editor of Revista de Psiquiatria Clínica, editor of the European Child & Adolescent Psychiatry and member of the editorial board of the Journal of the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry. He works in the field of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
